The ACRO Training Camp for 2011 was hosted by local organising committee lead by Mr Thierry Large in the town of Arques, further to a convention signed between UEG and the department of Pas de Calais authority. Sixty three participants from six Federations made the journey to take part in the camp.

The city of Arques, situated in the North part of France, provided idyllic gymnastic facilities: a new gym of 6000 square metre including different halls for each gymnastic discipline: Artistic, Rhythmic, Aerobic and Trampoline, Tumbling Acrobatic Gymnastics. With specific individual areas designated for dance and conditioning. The whole of the facility was dedicated to acrobatics for the week. All participants agreed that it was one of the best gymnastic complexes they had ever seen. As a trial for acrobatics it was a good opportunity for the organiser to meet experts from our discipline in order to improve the equipment for the future.

The participants, mainly in the development stages, were expertly assisted by some of Europe's top Acrobatic Trainers. Attending coaches took full advantage of the opportunity to gain practical and theory knowledge, a number of useful contacts were made. The program was set to meet the needs of the participating gymnasts and coaches. Using prior experiences and requests from coaches, it was decided this year to complement the training sessions with some workshops (about one hour each time) organised during or after the training. Prior to the start of the camp, a meeting with tutors and coaches was held in order to define a plan that would meet the needs and aspirations of the participants. Each workshop was lead by one of the experts and enriched by the group.

Alles Teilnehmer und Trainer

The week was not all about work, there was a social programme giving everyone the opportunity to meet and make friends. Unfortunately the weather on Wednesday (rain) didn't permit the tour to the coast. The programme, including an initiation to golf and a memorable farewell party, was greatly appreciated by the participants. An evaluation report completed by all participating coaches was positive and complementary on all aspects of the camp.
